Join Senior Curator Michelle White for a talk on Cy Twombly’s large-scale painting Untitled (Say Goodbye, Catullus, to the Shores of Asia Minor), 1994. White discusses the artist’s process of completing the painting over more than two decades and will shed light on some of the references from Greek and Roman mythology, classical literature, and poetry in his work.
Attending the program:
This program takes place in the Cy Twombly Gallery, located at 1501 Branard Street. Additional information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here.
As always, Menil programs are free and open to all.
About the series:
Curator Talks take place on select Sundays at 3 p.m. Menil curators speak on a single work of art or small group of works currently on display in the museum. These informal, 30-minute-long discussions offer the opportunity to learn more about and engage with artworks in intimate gallery settings.
