Outdoor Screening with Aurora Picture Show: Allora & Calzadilla Films

The Menil Collection and Aurora Picture Show co-present an outdoor screening of recent films by the artistic duo Allora & Calzadilla on the occasion of their exhibition Allora & Calzadilla: Specters of Noon. This selection of videos from 2004–2017 presents a cross-section of the artists’ works that explore their life in Puerto Rico and their cultural, historical, political, and scientific research of the ecologies of land, space, and place. The films will be introduced by the artist, Jennifer Allora.

Join us before the screening for an outdoor concert with Will Cruz and Quattro, and a book launch event for the Specters of Noon exhibition catalogue.

Attending the program:

The screening will take place on the Menil’s front lawn at 1533 Sul Ross Street, between Mandell and Mulberry Streets. Please bring your own picnic blankets or lawn chairs; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are required to abide by the museum’s COVID-19 safety protocols by maintaining social distance (at least 6 feet between each household) and wearing a face mask that covers your nose and mouth unless eating or drinking. Additional green space policies apply. Further information regarding accessibility and parking can be found here. Please note that in the event of inclement weather, the program will be held on Sunday, April 18.

Plan ahead and visit the Menil Collection’s exhibition Allora & Calzadilla: Specters of Noon, curated by Michelle White, before the screening by reserving your free timed entry at menil.org/welcomeback. The exhibition will be on view through June 20, 2021.
